I don’t have a clue how but one minute the page is fine showing all my events and the next minute is is saying that the page is “ARCHIVE FOR THE EVENTS CATEGORY”. Anyone know why this could be like this? I don’t remember doing anything except adding an “event” as a category from the individual event screen in EE. Please help! We need the events page back to normal asap! |
Hi Audrea, Can you please post a link to the events page so we can take a look? Thank you. |

It looks like the /events/ page’s page template setting was set to use an Archive template. If you go to edit this page there will be a box labeled Page Attributes where you can change the type of page template that the page uses to display. It should get set back to something like Default or Single. I’m not familiar with the WordPress theme that you’re using so the names of the page templates might be different than Default or Single. If in doubt, you can check with the theme’s author to find out what’s the recommended page template for displaying a single page of content. |

No, my page attribute is still what it should be: (see screenshot link) |

I removed events as a category and that fixed it. I don’t know what the problem is but at least that is fixed now. I have other issues but will begin another thread. |
The Categories down the bottom of the single events page are part of WordPress built in Taxonomies, so although you are within EE’s Event Page, those categories take effect thought all of WordPress as they are effectively ‘Post’ categories. Just like if you go to http://www.moneymanagementservice.com/education-planning/ That is just a category and not a page but when you go to the url, WordPress will show you an archive page for all posts within that category. This is WordPress expected behavior. Its a conflict between WP Pages and WP Archives (categories) with the same name (iirc and by the looks of it archives have higher priority), if you would like to know more about it I can find the post I read a while ago about this issue? But ultimately the easiest option is to not have Categories with the same name as Pages. |
