I have gone inot plugins and clicked on ‘activate’ but it says ‘event espresso cannot be acitvated’ |
Hi there, When you try to activate EE, does it show an error message along with the above? You would normally get an explanation as to why it can not activate. |
Hi TOny, no it just says: |
Ok, so thats the Calendar add-on and it needs Event Espresso core to be running for it to activate. Go to Dashboard -> Plugins. Do you see an ‘Event Espresso’ plugin there, like this – https://monosnap.com/file/T8SNTfh0nQrImo4jyRSyBcL9bF1jAf If you do, note the version number highlighted, what does yours show? If you don’t see ‘Event Espresso’ like that then the WordPress update failed and it removed the plugin, then EE’s add-ons will de-activate as they need the ‘core’ plugin to function. We can walk through fixing that, but I need to know the above first. |

It looks like the core plugin is gone so the calendar won’t update. I’ve checked and my license payments are up to date. I think I will have to re-install the core regular EE but I don’t know how to do it. Also, I can see I can get decaf for free but I’m not sure if I need this or if it will help? Can ytou advise me? Is Decaf instead of regular or do they run alongside each other? Thanks. |

Am now installling using quick start guide instructions |
Just to clarify here, your license has nothing to do with the problem, we don’t remove/deactivate/delete/anything Event Espresso based on the license and we never will 🙂 Something has failed when WordPress updated Event Espresso so now its no longer installed.
That’s correct, EE will need to reinstalled and I’ll guide you through doing so. A problem we may run into is when the above happens it can sometimes leave the empty plugin directory on the server, that will prevent you from reinstalling EE without FTP access to the server but we’ll check that in a second.
No, forget Decaf. Decaf is essentially a ‘basic’ version of the plugin and the regular version has all Decaf functions plus many more. So you want the Regular version of Event Espresso and you do no need decaf at all. — Ok, so to fix this. Go to your account page on this site, it’s HERE Scroll down a little and below your ‘Support License Keys’ section you’ll see ‘Downloads’. Click on ‘Event Espresso 4 Core Regular v4.10.3.p’ and it will download a .zip file to your machine. Then back on your site, go to Dashboard -> Plugins -> Add new -> Upload plugin (next to the ‘Add plugins’ title). Select the .zip file you just downloaded and click install now. Do you see something like this: https://monosnap.com/file/YbREzPgSvVIoXkIFhhxcDjY10POlVm Or does it show complete? |
It won’t work – it keeps saying ‘The link you followed has expired. Please try again’ |
It doesn’t show the example picture |
and it doens’t show complete either. Just the same message over and over again. |
Hmmm, ok. Can I take a look at the site? I’ll try installing it from here. If so you can send temp login details using this form: https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/ (Note that if you have FTP credentials I can get EE installed regardless the above if you send them over) |
