Guest registration automatically creates WP account

We have the user integration settings so that a WP account is not automatically created when a guest registration is made for an event. We would like to have this consciously so that a guest can register again and again for events as a guest by filling out the form fields and does not have to log in first.
Unfortunately, Eventespresso always creates a WP account despite the settings. This is not possible. How can I change this?

Thanks and best regards
Markus

Hi Markus,

Are you 100% sure it is Event Espresso creating the WP User accounts? The reason I ask is I can not reproduce the WP User integration add-on creating user accounts when the settings for that add-on have it set not to.

Just to note, there are actually 2 settings you’ll need to change for that add-on.

First, the ‘default setting’, which is used for all NEW events you create from this point on. That option is in Event Espresso -> Registration form -> User Integration settings -> Default setting for Login Required on Registration.

Set that to No and save the settings.

Again note that option only changes what happens for new events created from this point on. The option to create a user is an event specific option so once you’ve created an event the option is stored with that event.

So, edit the event you’ve been testing this on and check the sidebar to he right, it should have an ‘Auto-Create users with registrations?’ option, make sure that is also set to No.

See: https://monosnap.com/file/bzsQHbBxoVNczACQrKnTBK58zenDzp

That is the option which determines if a user is created by the event itself.

Hi Tony

Thank you so much for your fast answer. Now we have found the problem, but we do not have a solution….
The LearnDash-Addon – which we have activated for combining online and offline conferences with the same registration tool – is responsable for creating automatically WP-User accounts. OK, that is understandable. And it is very comfortable that this addon exists and therefore it is needed just only one registration tool (in our case Eventespresso). But how can we solve now our problems?

A) Most of our conferences are offline conferences and there must be no combination to Learndash. For the registration it is important to have “guest registration possibility” and not only strong registration with an WP-Account. This means that an account should not be created automatically during the guest registration. Then if an automatic account is created, the registration for a next event could be done only by login. And the group registration will also not work if the 2nd or 3rd registrant wants to be registered when they have already an account.

B) Only Event-registrations connected with Learndash should be registered via login.

How must be the settings, that we can realise this successfully?
Thanks for your help.

Best regards
Markus

Hi Markus,

I’m glad you found the cause, however, you will need to contact LearnDash support in regards to this as it is the code in their add-on that will need to be updated.

For example, they may be able to check if any of the events/tickets in the current session have LearnDash courses assigned to them and then create a user.
