Groupon code redeems for all ticket levels

For my event when testing the Groupon code vouchers, the test codes work for all levels of ticketing. For example I have a $35 ticket and a $55 ticket, the Groupon code works for either making either level free to purchase. Ideally I could choose which levels of registration this affected.

I am using the latest update to the Groupon plugin, Social Coupons 1.5.3

Hi cstuckey,

The social coupons plugin will apply a 100% discount to any ticket price for an event that allows groupons. If you’d like to choose which levels of registration are affected, you can place those ticket options in a separate event.

I can have ticket options from Event B, appear in the drop down box for Event A?

Unless that is the case, it wouldn’t work for me. My situation may be a bit unique here, we just do one event per year, but we have like 3000 people register online for our memberships for the event, so having a whole separate event for this wouldn’t work.

I think the easiest solution to fix this would just to assign a value to the GroupOn codes. For example ‘testA’ is worth $40, so they could still check out the $55 option, but would need to pay the $15 difference. I would imagine I am not the only one who would have that kind of situation.

The other way to handle this is to just make promo codes one time use.

No, you cannot have ticket options from one event appear in the price dropdown for another event.

You’re welcome to modify the code of the social coupons add-on to add a specific value for your event, but we would not be able to provide support for your modified code.

One-time use promo codes are coming, but won’t be available until Event Espresso 3.2.

Thank you both for the fast feedback. I think perhaps the best solution for the interim is if our event is accepted for GroupOn/LivingSocial to just use the highest valued option and then correct anyone who ordered the lower values.

Though I am glad to hear one time use codes are coming to EE 3.2. Is there any chance it wouuld be ‘X number of uses’ so we could have a public code for the first 50 people to register? That would be better thinking about promo codes and can handle both the 1 time use code situation and the other ways.

Hi there,

Event Espresso 3.2 will have the ability to set quantity limits for specific promo codes. You can test this out if you have test installation of WordPress to test on. We’ve released an early alpha of Event Espresso 3.2 here:
