Can I confirm that the Groupon voucher simply makes the ticket purchase free?

I am looking at a 2 for 1 offer, but want to know how to restrict the purchase to the agreed promotion i.e. is someone orders 10 tickets and use the 2-4-1 code, do they get 10?

If yes, can I define a ticket type with a maximum number of tickets allowed i.e. no more than 2?

Hello,

Yes the Social Coupon/Groupon add on uses an 100% discount, so the events would be free.

There is no option to limit tickets by type, only by time slot.

Dean,

doesn’t this expose us to a major financial risk?

How can organisers be sure that all of of the coupon users are decent, law abiding citizens?

Hi,

I am not sure what you mean.

If you feel that using the groupon codes could be detrimental to your business, then please do not use them. Note that the groupon codes are also single use codes.

As per your other thread I did say that there really isnt a system in place currently to enable a 2 for 1 offer. Josh on that thread advised that our promotional/offer system is being updated and that we can note this offer type for possible inclusion.

Dean,

this is different to the 2for1 topic as we are looking at using Groupon, regardless of the terrible commercial returns.

Using the plugin, if I upload codes supplied by Groupon, I assume the system checks its validity and applies it as a payment.  However, this relies on the honesty of the consumer to order 2 tickets (assuming 2for1).  If they are dishonest and order 4 tickets, then apply the code, they will get 4 tickets for the Groupon offer price.

As there is no way to restrict the coupon redemption,  i.e. create the exact offer, this can only be seen as a transactional security risk.

Whilst it is similar/the same as to my other topic, it is something that needs addressing, or, at least, users need to be aware of.

Hi,

Well you can limit the group registration number to 2. SO they can only order 2 tickets per event. It doesnt limit the ticket types though, just overall for the event.

However, if you have 4 events in your cart, 2 of which allow groupon codes, then using a groupon code will give 2 events for free, regardless of how many tickets they purchase and charge the user for the other 2 events.

Groupon codes were designed with single registrations in mind not multiple tickets nor adding to cart, so there is some limitations.

OK – I will try the group registration.

Visitors tend to book one event at a time, which helps, also, we are only going to trial Groupon on one event!
