Hi everyone, sorry if this question is in the wrong place as this is my first post on here.

I have the Groupon add on to my website and I was wondering if there is anyway of changing the word “Groupon code” to just “Voucher code” on the website, because I have several of these sites now advertising for me and if I had a generic “voucher code” on there it would lessen the problem of confusion if some of those clients wern’t Groupon clients. It would save me having to reply to all these potential emails of confused clients.

Can anyone help me here of point me to a post where this is mentioned?

Thanks heaps.

Pete.

Hi Peter,

You can change the text from within the espresso-groupons/use_groupon_code.php file. The text is towards the bottom of the file.

Fyi. I just changed the text on our side, so it should be out in the next update to the Groupon addon.

Hi Seth,

Thanks heaps for your help here … I think I’d rather wait till the update is available first before I go and “touch anything” … with the update, will it affect any past registrations that have use the GROUPON CODE box? ie … I won’t loose any (Groupon) codes I already have in there will I? And last question … It won’t affect those people, already registered with me will it? …

I know “updateing” a program can do funny things and I have heaps of codes already in the system and I just don’t want to loose them or stuff up my registration process by doing an upgrade. Please forgive my naitivity, I’m a novice at these sorts of things.

Oh .. and what date will the update come out, do you think?

Many thanks once again for all your help. I’m absolutly thrilled that this option will now be added to the Vocer code system.

Have an awesome day today.

Kind regards,

Pete.

Changing the text string should have no affect on your existing groupon codes. Those are stored in the database, so changing the file where Seth suggested will not affect that.

Regardless of whether you make the changes, I’d recommend making regular backups of the database so you don’t lose any valuable info. There are many good free and paid plugins out there that will back up your database, there’s even some that will send a copy to dropbox, which can really be handy.

We don’t have an estimate on when the next groupon add-on update will be ready.

I just did this and it appears to work. I downloaded a copy from the site, edited it at the bottom, and then uploaded it. Very nice!
