Hi,

I’m afraid I can’t find another post about this; in general Custom Templates seems to be a little light on support? When I use the following code, it is not filtering the events and shows all categories:

[EVENT_CUSTOM_VIEW template_name=”grid” “event_category_id=”dublin” ]

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

Hi Niamh,

Is that the exact shortcode you are currently using? Reason I ask is there is an additional ” within the shortcode which will be causing problems.

[EVENT_CUSTOM_VIEW template_name=”grid” event_category_id=”dublin” ]

When using the event_category_id parameter you use the unique_category_identifier, it appears you are using the category name (you can set the identifier yourself so I may be wrong)

If you go to Event Espresso -> Categories. Find your Dublin category, click on it to edit it and will find the unique_category_identifier field. Here is an example of mine: http://take.ms/R6JQs

Copy that field and use it within the shortcode. So if I wanted to use that category I would use the shortcode:

[EVENT_CUSTOM_VIEW template_name=”grid” event_category_id=”test-category-1379364973″ ]

Does that help?
