Hi there,

I saw in that post a solution to my question, I tried it but it doesn’t work:
https://eventespresso.com/topic/google_map_link-edit-the-text/

I would like to display a text (see the map) and link this text to the Google_map_link short code.

Here is the html that I wrote:
Voir sur la carte

Here is the text that I have in the sent email:
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=38+rue+de+Rochechouart%2CParis%2C75+-+Paris%2C75009%2CFrance”>Voir sur la carte

Do you have any idea how I could solve the problem please?

Thanks a lot

Hi there,

It sounds like you’re using the messages editor in visual mode when you should be editing in text mode.

Hi
Thanks for your answer but no, I was in edit text mode when I wrote it in back-end, not in visual mode.

It’s happening because I was mistaken in my reply in the other thread.

[GOOGLE_MAP_LINK] returns a full link, so using the above it outputs a link within a link:

<a href="<a href="www.example.com>Some Site</a>>Some site</a>

Which is invalid and will not work.

Currently, we do not have a shortcode that will return only the URL for the map although I have created a ticket to request one is added.

Hi TOny,
Thanks for your answer, I understand that the available shortcode can’t be used as mentionned at the end of the post https://eventespresso.com/topic/google_map_link-edit-the-text/.
Thanks for having opened a ticket for that

That’s correct, my apologies for the confusion.

I have since updated the above thread to prevent the same thing happen with future readers.

Update: Event Espresso 4.9.39.p was released today and it includes a new shortcode
[GOOGLE_MAPS_URL]
and this new shortcode will return only the url to the Google map.

Hi Josh,
Thanks for the update, we’ll test that. Great!
