Google+ is going away being retired in April. Why is it still on all the templates? Are they being updated in a future release to remove it? Or do I have to remove it from each template?
The Google+ shortcode usage has been removed from the default templates in the next version of Event Espresso (4.9.80+), however, that will not affect current users templates.
To explain, EE generates the message templates during the initial activation and then saves them database. So it reads the current template files, runs them through translations for the current locale and then saves them to the DB to allow for user customizations to the templates. After that the template files themselves are used unless you reset the templates, at which point it does all of the above again with the current files.
So to remove Google+ from the templates, you can either wait for 4.9.80, then edit each message type within your install and press the ‘Reset Templates’ button, its in this section of each message type – https://monosnap.com/file/9i2zeZMimRjaxNoy9Ob4sAmuLdV00S
Note that will remove any customizations you have to all of that message type’s “contexts” (See HERE for more info on message contexts) so is no good if you have customized them.
Or manually edit each template and remove the shortcodes used to pul the Google+ details.
