We are looking into solutions that would give our Students 3-4 months to pay for their classes (events). Has anything like this been done before? Do you have any ideas on how we might go about this? We’re willing to investigate having someone build us a custom plugin as well… Just thought I’d start here with our inquiry.

Hi Shelly,
I’m not aware of anything custom being done for this before, but the above isn’t clear on the specific of how you want this to work.
EE already allows users to return to make a payment and so I’m assuming you are looking for something to automate ‘removing’ the user if they don’t pay and or sending some kind of payment reminder before doing so?
If not can you add some more details on what you are looking to do?

Sure… sorry about that.
Lets say one of our Students signs up for 4 classes (events) and it comes to $890. We would like them to be able to break that payment up into 3 (always 3) payments of equal amount. If their credit card gets declined, we’d be able to have the system send them a notice with a link to pay (with some other form of payment) or the system would try again in a day or two.
At the end, they’d simply get a notice that they are paid in full.

Ahh ok, that’s slightly different as your talking about partial payments.
Whilst partial payments aren’t officially supported they are possible to do but not automatically in the way you are referring to above. I don’t know of any 3rd party integrations that have this available so you’ll likely need a custom payment method to setup some form of recurring payment within the payment provider (I know Stripe have a facility for recurring payments, EE doesn’t currently support it but that is likely were I would start looking).
