My client would like to use Event Espresso to sell gift certificates. How is this functionality coming? Any ideas on a release date?

For now, each value for a gift certificate could be added as a ticket through the event editor.
In a future version of Event Espresso, we will introduce variable pricing so a registrant can enter the amount that they would like to buy a gift certificate for.

That doesn’t really sound like what we are looking for. We have dozens of events per month and the gift certificate needs to be able to be applied to the event of the recipient’s CHOICE. Creating it as a ticket type would mean the buyer of the gift certificate would need to determine which event the recipient gets registered for. We want someone to be able to receive a gift certificate for an amount of the sender’s choosing and apply it to the event(s) of their own choosing.
What is your timeline for development of a better option?

Hi,
This sounds like accepting gift certificates as payment rather than selling them. This won’t be available this year as the promotions system needs to be released first.

Yes, we want to sell them and then accept them for payment. I will check the roadmap. We are very excited for this functionality – and hope we can limp by until then
