Hello – i need to know how to add classes so they show up on home page w/ a shortcode, are easy to duplicate.

THere are two types of classes
1 day class
2 day class

They are held at various dates/times and for now are all held at the same venue.

It seems that when i duplicate the event, it nests under the main type and does not show up in a list/table.

In addition, the amount/ticket type shows up instead of the list of classes. I’d like the price to appear after someone clicks Register on a specific date.

Hi Nicole,

How are you today?

Are you doing the coding for your home page or do you have a programmer doing this work?

Are you using the Event Espresso widget?

Hi Garth – I am doing the work, but am not a developer. i am a little disappointed in the challenges of ee. i can normally figure things out pretty quickly but this has been tough.

i don’t think i am using a widget – i installed it as a plugin.

Hi Nicole,

It seems that when i duplicate the event, it nests under the main type and does not show up in a list/table.

When you duplicate an event it is not automatically published and is saved as a draft, this is to allow you to edit the dates of the event (and the title) and then publish it manually.

I’m not sure I understand what you mean by listing it under main type, can you explain this a little further please, possibly include a screenshot so we can see.

In addition, the amount/ticket type shows up instead of the list of classes. I’d like the price to appear after someone clicks Register on a specific date.

With EE the tickets are assigned to the Datetimes (the dates for each instance of an event) and it is the tickets the user is registering which means they register onto a ticket rather than a date, it sounds like you’ll need to create tickets for specific dates but it depends what your looking to do.

Can you link us to one of your events please so I can see how you currently have this set up, you can send login details using this form:

https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/

i don’t think i am using a widget – i installed it as a plugin.

The Event Espresso plugin includes an upcoming events widget so we are checking if you are using that to display your events.

Currently you are using the EE4 Events Table View template on the home page to list your events.

Altering the class list under /classes/ will require a custom archive theme template file be created to output the events differently, for this you will need the help of a developer. However you do not ‘need’ to use that event list age if you prefer not to. You can create a new page and use the shortcode for the EE4 Events Table template on that page too, then link directly to that page.

It all depends on what you would like to do, can you provide further details please?

Duplicating any of your events should also include that duplucate within the Events Table view, however you will first need to Publish the event.

So you need to duplicate the event, alter the title and click publish to make the event live.

Is there any way to have a quick phone call? I don’t know where the Events Table is.
I paid for a call and he coded the table on the home page which you now saying i don’t need…???

Hi Nicole,

You previously used your support token last month and we confirmed those changes on your site with you.

Here is information on how the site is currently setup.

If you go to Wp-admin (WP Dashboard) –> Pages. Then click on the Home page, then that will take you to the page editor with a visual editor plugin loaded. The table view template on the home page is coming from this area of the page editor:

http://cl.ly/image/3c2Q2N2y2w16

If you do not want that there, then you can remove it and save changes to the page.

If you are wanting to show the table view template elsewhere (e.g. a separate page), then you can create a new WordPress page and move that shortcode over to that page and then publish it. Then if needed, add a link to that page to your websites navigation through Appearance –> Menus.

Here is the shortcode on your home page:

[ESPRESSO_EVENTS_TABLE_TEMPLATE table_search=”false” category_filter=”false” footable=”false” limit=”3″]

Note that the events table view template is optional and is not required. You can think of it as another way to display your events. The events calendar would be another way to show events for your attendees/registrants.

If you are wanting to use a different format, then you could try the [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] shortcode which shows events in a list-based format instead of a table.
