My accounting department neglected to take our Authorize.net account out of testmode and a few clients registered for events. The registrations went through however we didn’t actually get the money because the gateway wasn’t live.
Since we have all of their registration information already (except their credit card info, obviously) can we just call them – very apologetically – and ask them to read their CC numbers over the phone so we can just re-run the payment portion of their registration or do we have to trash their “payment” and registration, asking them to start over?

P.S. – yes, the gateway has now been switched to “live”
I should add, that there is nothing in Event Espresso that is prohibiting you from collecting the money in a separate transaction. Just add a note to their Contact record for future reference.
