FYI on stripe…

Hi, receiving the following error when trying to put a payment through:
“this account cannot currently make live charges. if you are a customer trying to make a purchase, please contact the owner of this site. Your transaction has not been processed”.

Spent 1 hour plus on chat with stripe, and it turns out that they sometimes will block accounts that arent completely setup (we were missing our EIN) from using EE or some other service to make sales. The issue, they dont alert you on the dashboard.

I thought your other customers would benefit from this if they have the same issue that I did.

Thank you for posting this.

Truth be told, any/all of the payment providers out there can and will do exactly the same if they don’t have all of the information they need. Some very well-known companies have been known for doing exactly that and locking users out of their funds for long periods of time whilst they request details, photocopies of ID and various bits of information.

Whilst they should communicate this to you when it happens they are also bound by legislation they must follow so in the end, it is all just about crossing the T’s and dotting the i’s if it happens to you.

Just to be clear, this isn’t unique to Event Espresso, its any selling platform, anywhere.
