Future support for ongoing events in EE4

Hello,
In EE3 I used an ongoing event to allow purchase of gift certificates. According to posts in the support forums, EE4 doesn’t have ongoing events. The work around is to create an event with an end in the distant future. The looks kludgy when the future date and time are displayed in the ticket selector. Is support for ongoing events on a todo list for EE4?
