Fully paid registration showing $0 on main registration view

I have taken over a site for a client using EE4 for class registrations. We have had 2 recent registrations (out of about 50) that are fully paid according to the transaction details, but on the main registrations view they show as an incomplete transaction status with “$0” in the paid column. If I view the individual transaction, I can see the PayPal details, everything is showing as green/complete, and the system is approving the registrations…however, the transaction itself says “incomplete”….even though there is no balance owed.

Any idea why we would be seeing this? I’ve flushed the site cache, the browsers, and keep seeing it. Is there any way to manually complete a transaction? It’s very frustrating because my client doesn’t like seeing the “$0” under the Paid column.

Well…..
I just went into those two transactions again. I “edited” the payments without making any changes, and now they are showing as paid/complete. So that can be a workaround, I guess. But any idea why this happened? Only on two transactions and not all of them? Thanks.

Hi,

May I ask which PayPal gateway was used to make the payment? For example was it PayPal Standard, Express, Express with Smart buttons?

It’s PayPal Standard. I did not do the setup and don’t own the PayPal account, so I have been hesitant to make any changes.

That’s probably the reason, PayPal Standard isn’t reliable and has been deprecated. The newer payment methods available in Event Espresso for PayPal use the newer APIs and we recommend using those.

What you can do is get in touch with the PayPal account owner and help them get the PayPal Express API credentials:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/paypal-express-payment-gateway/#locate

Then use those credentials to set up PayPal Express.

Another option you have is get set up with PayPal Express with smart buttons:

1) You download the PayPal Express with Smart buttons add-on from your account page
2) Follow its set up guide: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/paypal-express-checkout-smart-payment-buttons-payment-gateway/

The advantage of the smart buttons add-on stays on your site when paying, and it’s still easier PCI compliance compared to a gateway like Paypal Pro.

Ok, I will look into changing to PayPal Express. Thanks
