Hi there,
I found this thread from last year:

that addressed what I’m trying to fix. I want the full events still to show on the list but I want them to say something along the lines of Full or something like that.

Hi Jason,
The thread you linked to refers to the Calendar, but you seem to want to show expired events in the Event List, is that correct?
If so then you can use the shortcode [EVENT_LIST show_expired=true].
However, it does not specifically style them to show they are sold out, but it will display an Available Spaces as 0 and remove the registration options. Screenshot http://take.ms/XFk8a
