FPDF error: Unsupported image type: jpg?1

Hi folks,
I’ve just set up EE on my site (hosted at HostNine) and when I test the ‘download a PDF invoice’ feature, I get the error:
FPDF error: Unsupported image type: jpg?1

To have this plugin not work right out of the box is a pain, esp since we have workshop attendees trying to register right now!

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Matt,

Firstly sorry that you have encountered an issue with Event Espresso.

I am running a test server with EE version 3.1.29.1.p which is what I am assuming you are running, and have added a .jpg file to the invoice gateway as a logo and not encountered this issue.

Have you tried alternative jpg files or png/gif etc?

OK, I think I have one possible resolution. Can you check to see if the url to your image has a space after it?

That was the only way I could recreate that error.

Please let me know.

Hi Dean,
I can’t seem to even replace the image!
Even when I use a PNG with a different name, FPDF (which I’m told hasn’t been updated or supported since 2004!) STILL spits out the error as if the file ends with jpg?1

Not sure if this is of help:
I created a test site locally (using MAMP) and then imported the WP data from that into my hosted site.
Could there have been an issue in that process?
Cheers,
DESPERATE matt 🙂

Hi Matt,

We dont use FPDF, we use DOMPDF, though it may be based on FPDF.

Have you definitely checked for spaces before and after the image url in the Invoice Payment Settings?

That is the only way I can reproduce this.

If not, is this affecting your live site or just the local one?

If it is affecting the live site can I get login details?

If so, please send them via https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/

NOTE: login details need to be Admin level.

Hi Dean,
I’m not manually entering the URL for the logo image. I’m clicking ‘add image’ via the Event Espresso General Settings. (Same error BTW when I just installed and tested the Ticketing plug-in).

Aaaaah… hang on.. I forgot that you could enter a URL for a logo in Invoice Payment Settings
I thought the invoice and the tickets used the logo image as set in the Event Espresso General Settings!

OK, THAT seems to have fixed the error! Phew. THANKS!
Now I get a PDF Invoice (gawd it’s not pretty) but even though the logo is a small file (134px wide) it’s showing large, pixelated and overlapping our business and payee details on the invoice.

You can try a dummy registration here:
http://www.aimanz.com/event-registration-2/?ee=4
When you get to the end, hit the Purchase order option and click the PDF link.

or take a peek at this snap of the generated PDF

I’ve even tried outputting the JPG 134px wide but 300dpi as it seems to be taking the print dimensions from this. Anyway, enough questions for now. Thanks SO much for your quick replies.
cheers,
matt

PS: You certainly SEEM to be using FPDF – see here:

Hey,

Sorry I thought you were working in the Invoice section. The Logo set in the General Settings should also kick in for the ticket but not the invoice.

I am very happy that we are planning on moving away from this type of invoice structure in 3.2+ to a move streamlined invoice more similar tot he tickets.

I am experiencing the same thing invoice wise, image is being expanded.

Unfortunately tweaking the image size is little more difficult than it should be, though the change is quite simple. Have a look at this thread here https://eventespresso.com/topic/logo-not-fitting-on-top-left-of-invoice/

And yes we have FPDPF and DOMPDF so I got confused it seems the invoices are using FPDF.

Thanks for the link Dean. I knew there’d be a simple solution somewhere!
