I understand that I can add a link to all of my EventEspresso Events from my menu bar. But I don’t like the way they are being displayed. I thought the plug ins would give me more flexibility to display as I would like. What am I doing wrong?

Also, I want to be able to list all of my events on a specific page on my site (TreasureValleyChildrensTheater.com/play) but when I past in the html code the images BLOW UP my page and all the events run together. It looks terrible.

Help!
Thanks.

Hi there,

You might try a different WP theme because that’s what actually controls the look of your website and gives you the flexibility to display things.

May I ask what is the html code that you tried? You could try using one of the shortcodes instead to list all of your events. The built in shortcode is [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] and if you install the events table template add-on (included with your license) you can add the
[ESPRESSO_EVENTS_TABLE_TEMPLATE] shortcode to a page

Changing my theme is not an option. We paid a lot of money for our current theme because it offers us a ton of flexibility and tools. I didn’t try the short codes, so I’ll give that a shot. I used the html code offered at the bottom of the ‘events’ page in EventEspresso – <div style=”width:100%; height: 500px;”>
<iframe src=”http://www.treasurevalleychildrenstheater.com?event_list=iframe” width=”100%” height=”100%”></iframe>
</div>

I’ll give the short codes a go and see if that doesn’t look better. Thanks.

One more question – is it possible to export events into an excel spreadsheet? Or to create a PDF print version?

The shortcodes will look usually better because they’ll use the styles from your theme. The html embed code is actually intended to be used to display your events on other websites, it’s not intended to be used on the same site.

is it possible to export events into an excel spreadsheet?

No.

Or to create a PDF print version?

No.

So, I put the short code on my TreasureValleyChildrensTheater.com/play page and nothing happened. I tried pasting it in an HTML area and that did nothing. I went back to the General set up instructions. Do I need to create a brand new page and just paste the short code and nothing else on that page?

I’m a little frustrated with this whole process because it just isn’t as straight forward as I thought. I’m still waiting for my SSL certificate to come through so I can even take payments. In the meantime, I just need my events to show up on one, super easy to navigate page. I’m tempted to pay for your support services but does that include you guys getting into my system and helping set stuff up? I’m clearly not understanding how this works.

How do I remove ‘Archives’ from my event listing page? see http://www.treasurevalleychildrenstheater.com/events/

That’d be a good start, start with a new page. The /play/ page appears to have some other content from other plugins.

How do I remove ‘Archives’ from my event listing page?

One way would be to edit the WP theme’s archive.php file. Before you try that though, does your theme have any options that let you change the main heading of the post archives? If not, you could add this CSS to your theme customizer’s Additional CSS panel:

.post-type-archive-espresso_events .archive-header {display:none;}

Okay – you are unbelievably helpful, so thanks!

I deactivated the Event Grid display add-on and installed the Event Table display add-on in hopes that it would list all 12 of my events on one page, making it easier for my visitors to find what they are looking for. BUT, it hasn’t changed. I’m still stuck with the Grid format. What did I do wrong?

The grid format on the /events/ page is actually from your theme.

The grid add-on will display a grid of events where you put this shortcode on a page:
[ESPRESSO_GRID_TEMPLATE]

The event table add-on will display where you place this shortcode on a page:
[ESPRESSO_EVENTS_TABLE_TEMPLATE]
