We have a problem and I’m not sure if its a function of EE or if I have missed a setting.

Whats happening is people fill out the form to register for an event, they get to the “Confirm Registration” page and then for whatever reason they abandon the form without clicking “Confirm Registration”.

The problem is that the registration still goes into our list of attendees, meaning that someone has to follow up with them to see if they actually meant to register or not.

Is there a way to change this so that only when they click the Confirm Registration button, it goes into the attendee list.

Thanks

Morag Reid

In the Event Espresso General Settings page, under Advanced Features you can tell the system to only count certain payment status’ toward your registration limit: http://www.screencast.com/t/K6tuxWSXdms

Your default status might allow the incomplete registrations be counted. They will still be added to your attendee list, but you can then also send them an invoice to finish their registration. Treat these people like leads, and I would follow-up with them. Otherwise you can just delete them if you want.

I have that set to incomplete, but I am not sure you are seeing the issue here. The registration is being accepted before the user clicks Confirm Registration, regardless of whether or not they have paid, the registration shouldn’t go into the attendees list until they have clicked confirm Registration.

This is something that many event managers would not find desirable. What you are suggesting is that people who have not completed their registration process (because they forgot or didn’t see the confirm button) would not even be listed in your attendee list, so there’d be no way of knowing one way or another. Incomplete registrations do not count against the total number of attendees, so those people are not going to fill up your event either way.

But the short answer is “no”, we can’t change the way the registration process currently works to not store attendee information until after they confirm. This is one of the major changes that is coming in 3.2.

I’ll look forward to that update then.

I find that when the price is zero and the form is abandoned after “submit” but before “confirm” that the registration shows as “completed” no matter what the default payment status is.

It should, instead, set the status to the default payment status, as it does when the price is non-zero.

Rationale: even if the price is free, we still need to be able to tell the genuine registrations from the abandoned ones.
