Hello |
Hi Sue, When you chase these user up, what do they say the reason they did not pay initially is? You can set the PayPal payment method to be ‘Open by default’ but the user must still click to finalize the registration and be directed to PayPal. It sounds like the users are abandoning the checkout but there is not much you can do to prevent that.
You could trigger the payment reminder within EE which includes a link to allow the user to pay, it will link them back to the payment options step within checkout and they can then use PayPal from there. If you request money through PayPal you would then also need to record that within their transaction, right? |

Hi Tony |
No, it sends them back to the payment options step which is where they selected PayPal during the registration the first time. They click PayPal and then finalize and will then be directed to PayPal. We can’t direct the user directly to PayPal as need to pass over the registration/events/transaction details to PayPal to link them together. |

ok thanks – so they can register and not pay and then go back to this link and it will still pass the details of their registration to paypal… |
Exactly 🙂 It basically jumps the registration back to the payment options step and tells EE to use the registration details they previously entered. Then they can completely the registration by selecting PayPal and clicking to pay. EE passes all of the registration details they entered over to PayPal (and know which registration/transaction this is for) so when PayPal then send the details back to your site after the user pays it should update the transaction with the payment details and update the registration status. |
