I have just updated to the latest version of EE3. But I still have folders at wp-contents/uploads/espresso.

Please can you tell me if these folders are still necessary if I’m running at the latest version? Why are these folders here, when would I use them?

Thank you.

Hi Dee,

wp-contents/uploads/espresso/

Allows you to load custom versions of templates, gateways etc to override the default ones included within Event Espresso. They allow you to customise Event Espresso sections without modifying core files.

Please can you tell me if these folders are still necessary if I’m running at the latest version? Why are these folders here, when would I use them?

Do you currently have files within any of those directories?

Why and if you need then depends on if you need to load customizations within Event Espresso.

Yes, I’ve got files in those directories. The only one I’m aware that I need is the payments_overview.php file.
Thanks
Dee

Hi Dee,

Those are for customizations. So if you or a developer made customizations, that’s why those files are there. Event Espresso 3 doesn’t add the files there by default. Where there are files there, they are only necessary if you need the customizations that are within them.

That’s within /wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates/

What you can do is change the template directory to /template-old/ for example to de-activate any custom templates.

Create a new directory called ‘templates’ and copy your current payments_overview.php file to that new directory.

That way you’ll remove stop any custom templates from loading, but can always copy them over if you find you need them. Ideally you only want to load templates that you have actually modified, the default templates should be used the rest of the time.

Hi Tony & Josh

Thank you both, that’s all very helpful.
