Is it possible for the user to filter the event listing by categories/tags?

There isn’t a feature that is included with Event Espresso that builds an event list that has filtering. What some have done is use the [EVENT_ESPRESSO_CATEGORY] shortcode on a page to display a list of events for a category.

Then create a page for each -or- put them all on a page and build out a little tabbed navigation with CSS and jQuery.

It’s a shortcode that can be placed on a WordPress page that will display all events from a specific category. See the category documentation for more info: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/event-categories/#shortcode
