Filter Calendar by Venue Category (1)

Hello,
I have some venues that are at different addresses but have the same name – so don’t want to have a repetition for choosing a venue in the filters for the Calendar. Is there any way to have a filter on my calendar that just filters venue categories and not actual venues?

Hello,

That isn’t currently an option. Another way to handle this would be to use Event Categories which does have a dropdown on the events calendar.

Problem is I’m already using that filter as well. Since I want users to be able to choose a class from the event categories and then choose a location from the venue filter. Some locations are in the same city but different address – so that is were it gets confusing since I would name two different venues in the same city the same thing.
Do you have any other ideas on how I can solve this issue?

One other idea to solve this issue is add a suffix to the Venue name to help disambiguate the two venues that have the same name. For example, if you have two Venues that are both at local Starbuck’s coffee shops, you could rename the Venues to be:

Starbuck’s on Front St.
and
Starbuck’s on Henry St.

or like this with a general area:

Starbuck’s (Upper West Side)
and
Starbuck’s (Lower East Side)

If you can give us more information about the two venues, we might be able to help come up with some additional ideas.

It’s offering different classes – and there quite a few locations. They are in three states – VA, MD, and DC. And there is more than one city that’s an option in each state, and there are two venues that are at the same city.
For Example:
Lamaze class – MD (Bethesda = First St.)
– DC
CPR Class – MD (Bethesda = Second St.)
– MD (Bethesda = Third St.)

Therefore, it makes sense for people to filter by event – since that chooses which class they would like, but the venues would be seperate venues even if they are in the same city – but wouldn’t make sense for a person to filter classes based off of the street.
Hope that makes sense.

Of course it would not make sense to filter classes based off street, but when your Venue names are the same from one venue to another, it really helps to add something to help uniquely identify them.
