Fatal Error – Can no longer access Plug In Page

Hello:

I just purchased and installed the product, following all instructions to the “t”. When I click the “Plug Ins” navigation item in WordPress, I receive a blank page with this message:

Warning: array_search() expects parameter 2 to be array, object given in /wp-content/plugins/all-in-one-event-calendar/all-in-one-event-calendar.php on line 160

Fatal error: Cannot use object of type stdClass as array in /wp-content/plugins/all-in-one-event-calendar/all-in-one-event-calendar.php on line 160

I’ve researched the forums. I’ve read countless documents. I’m not an experienced developer which is why I’m using WordPress and buying plug ins. Can anyone help? What information do you need from me?

Hi Sheila,

May I ask which version of Event Espresso did you install, Event Espresso 3 or 4?

In order to fix this you’ll need either FTP details or access to cPanel. You should have received log-in details for at least one of these when you signed up to your webhost.

Do you have those account details?

I was trying to install Espresso 3. Yes – I can get into my CPanel 🙂

If you do not have a site backup now is a good time to make one (just means we have a backup plan). We have a guide posted here:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-back-up-your-site/

Basically you need to disable all-in-one-events calendar.

The simplest way to do that now is via FTP or the ‘File Manage’ within cPanel.

Unfortunately where to go depends on how the server has you setup, usually when you go to File Manager you’ll get a pop up similar to this: http://take.ms/Wmx0Q

You want to press Web Root and then OK.

If you only have one site you’ll now be within root and hopefully the WordPress files will be there looking something like this: http://take.ms/l615G

Sometimes WordPress is installed within a directory, they may be within a directory with a similar name to your site. When you find the list similar to what I posted you want to go to.

You want to go to wp-content/plugins/

You should see all-in-one-event-calendar in the list, like this: http://take.ms/4BsE2

Rename the folder, adding ‘-temp’ or somethin similar to the end. If you single click on the name it should allow you to change it. Add something to the end of the folder and hit enter to commit the name.

Now to to your back to the sites plugins page. Does it now load?

*Note – do NOT delete any files/folders. Renaming allows us to de-activate the plugin without removing any files meaning relatively low risk.

If you prefer we could do this with the puchase of a priority support token.
