Effective July 26th, Facebook is no longer allowing is to change the description that the URL pulls in from sharing our Event on our Facebook page. Here is a link to their reasonong. https://www.facebook.com/business/help/247886969033572?helpref=search&sr=10&query=edit%20description So my question is this, how can I edit what information social networks will grab from our website using Event Espresso. We currently use our Themes SEO tools and have very good rankings locally. So we are not to thrilled about having to add WP SEO Plugin. We are hoping there is something you guys have in the works to help with this issue. Thanks |

Hi Jarred, This seems out of scope from what Event Espresso does because Event Espresso doesn’t add open graph meta tags to the event page’s markup. Does your theme’s SEO tools add those? |

Hi Josh, Actually I believe it does have to do with Event Espresso after digging deeper. Maybe it has to do with the recent updates to EE4. Because Facebook was always pulling the correct meta description from the excerpt part of an event. So can you guys please take a look for me. https://www.facebook.com/artsyrose/posts/724311897757904 is a link showing you the bad text that it’s inserting. Because as you can see, on July 21st, we were still getting the correct meta description. And there was an Event Espresso update around that time. https://www.facebook.com/artsyrose/posts/718912511631176 Whatever we can do to fix this let me know and we can work together. Is anyone else having this issue? To replicate, take a link from an event on a website, post it on Facebook and see if the description shows up correctly. |

Event Espresso 4 hasn’t changed much in the regard of what’s shown on the single event page in quite some time. May I ask what is the “bad text” you’re referring to? Have you tried adding a manual excerpt to the event? There’s an Excerpt box with a textarea where you can include a summary of the event, and Facebook may end up using that in their preview. |
