Expired Events Showing on Event Listing Page After Update

I recently renewed my Event Espresso 4 license and updated the plugin to 4.10.3.p but now expired events are being displayed on my event listing page even though I have that setting turned off in the Event Espresso event template tab in WordPress. I’ve running the current version of WordPress 5.3.2 and using the Avada theme that is updated to the current version 6.2.1. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Here is a link to the event listing page: https://btdchicago.com/shows/ The majority of the events listed on the first page are expired.

Hi,

May I ask is there any custom code for the events archive template? Normally there are not “sort by venue/category” inputs, how were those added? If there’s any custom code maybe you could post those to a code snippet bin and link here so we can investigate further.

Yes, we have a developer create a plugin for the filters and other customizations. I’ve disabled it and our child theme but I’m still seeing an expired event on the second page here: https://btdchicago.com/shows/page/2/. The “CHERUBruary” event listings displayed are past events. Shouldn’t the Event Espresso event template setting to “Display Expired Events” set to “No” prevent this listing from showing?

Normally it does, but custom code can override the query. The way forward will be to find the custom code that’s either removing the query filters on the “posts_where” hook or possibly setting its own filters on posts_where.

But with the developer plugin and child theme disabled there should not be any custom code. I even briefly installed the “default” WordPress theme and those events are still displaying so it’s not being caused by Avada. Would you be able to look at this problem in more detail if I provide site credentials?

Does the issue persist with all other plugins deactivated?

Looks like the culprit is Avada’s Fusion Builder plugin even when not using the theme. I guess I will need to re-hire our developer to work out these issues or roll back our updates. Unless you have any other suggestions?

I don’t have a current version of Avada’s Fusion Builder plugin to check its code but maybe you could contact Avada/Themefusion to see if they have a way to exclude filtering the queries for specific post type archives.
