When a new event is created, event espresso will create 3 different things: the event itself, the event post (which im assuming is a custom post type), and a post for the blog section of the website.
My confusion comes in as to when I should only create an event post versus a post for my blog – what is the difference between these two?
any clarification is greatly appreciated!
Also, one other question, how can i sort events by the most recent coming first as default (which needing to change the filters every time I view all events)?
By default, Event Espresso will only create an event. There’s an option to auto create a WordPress style blog post. This comes in handy for SEO, having a specific RSS feed of events, or to use as a way of promoting events via a blog.
If you set the custom post types feature on, you’ll have the option to optionally create an Event post (using the WordPress Custom post type functionality) instead of a blog post. This is mostly used in cases where a custom theme has been designed or modified to include templates that have been modified to display the event lists and event registration pages. We include sample templates as starting points for theme developers who are more familiar with working with Custom post type templates.
With the other question, there isn’t a way to change the default sort + order views of the event overview, but this is a fantastic idea that I’ll add to our list of suggested features and requests.
