We have had several events lately that are not limiting attendees to the number specified. The events also have waiting lists attached, but the overflow attendees are not being placed on them.
Help much appreciated, as this is causing headaches for staff and registrants.
How quickly are these events filling up? It’s possible if a user has an event open in their browser and does not complete their registration, that the event will fill up between the time they loaded the page and when they finally fill in their information and complete the process. For those people the event would get overbooked. If your events are filling up pretty quickly (within a day) it’s possible that this is what’s going on.
Thanks for your prompt reply. The events usually fill up within a few days, though I understand how what you mentioned could happen.
Another question related to this: If ‘Allow group registrations?’ is enabled and someone tried to register 3 people when there are only 2 spots available, will it prevent them from registering the last person?

In the event that someone has loaded the page before the slots filled up leaving only 2 remaining (like in the example I gave), then you would be able to register 3 when only 2 spaces are available.
OTHERWISE, only 1 additional space should even be an option when you are going through the registration process.
In other words, it should figure it out automagically assuming whoever’s registering hasn’t been sitting on the page while the event filled up.
