I dont understand why the events are displayed as blog posts? It doesnt make any sense to me why the event is not just displayed on a page? Is there a simple way that does not involve coding or tons of work to get the events to display without the sidebar, blog title, comments etc???

Hi there,

I dont understand why the events are displayed as blog posts?

Event Espresso events are a custom post type within WP, so they are posts. How they are output is very heavily controlled by your theme (we inject additional event details into the call to the_content() ) and we’ve done it that way so that events are consistent with the rest of your site.

It doesnt make any sense to me why the event is not just displayed on a page?

An event list on a page can be done using the [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] shortcode, but they will still link back to the event ‘post’.

If you mean display individual events on a page then one problem with use doing that automatically is events aren’t intended to be pages so depending on the theme it could look very different than expected. You can still have that issue with themes but you will generally have more control within the theme settings for how posts will display automatically.

Is there a simple way that does not involve coding or tons of work to get the events to display without the sidebar, blog title, comments etc???

That very much depends on the options your theme provides, if they don’t give you options to display those, then you’ll need some additional code or a custom template for your theme.

Which theme are you using?
