Hi

We have a menu tab on the wesbite called Events

When clicking on this it goes to http://www.bosworthsgc.co.uk/our-events

However we are getting some instances where it goes to http://www.bosworthsgc.co.uk/events

The screen then locks up

We cant figure out why it is going to this page as there is no redirect on it

I have the option on the http://www.bosworthsgc.co.uk/events to redirect to /our-events

If I did this am I likely to experience any issues?

Thanks

When clicking on this it goes to http://www.bosworthsgc.co.uk/our-events

So that’s a page created within WordPress with the slug ‘our-events’.

However we are getting some instances where it goes to http://www.bosworthsgc.co.uk/events

That’s an archive of EE event posts.

If WordPress can’t find the page/post for the slug you have passed to it, it does it’s best to try and figure out what you actually meant (or more like what it thinks you mean) and will output that.

So it sounds like on some requests it can’t find the ‘our-events’ page and so is displaying the ‘events’ output.

Is the above happening when the site is under heavy load?

The screen then locks up

The screen locks up because theres a lot of info loading on the page, after a while it will work – http://take.ms/N0G2T
(Note that’s the bottom of the event archive page after it loaded)

Hi Tony

It could be when the site is under heavy load

Personally I cannot re-create it but my colleague had this happen at the weekend and we did have a lot of bookings through the site at the weekend

Is there a way of making /events redirect to /our-events so if this does happen it will force it to where it should go?

We never use the archive EE posts as there are a lot

Thanks
Jonathan

You could change the EE slug to not use ‘events’.

Not that it will change your single event urls, so for example, this:

https://bosworthsgc.co.uk/events/malvern-spring-festival-2

Would change to:

https://bosworthsgc.co.uk/{your-new-slug}/malvern-spring-festival-2

That might prevent the conflict between the two and always load your our-events page.

You can do the above within:

Event Espresso -> Events -> Templates -> Event slug.

Change the value and save the settings.

Then go to Dashboard -> Settings -> Permalinks.

Make no changes and click save to flush your permalinks.
