I edited the file event_espresso-de_DE.po one year ago and compiled it to event_espresso-de_DE.mo. I now see a new version of event_espresso-de_DE.mo has been installed with the latest update, but it has errors and doesn’t include the changes I made. I don’t find the current event_espresso-de_DE.po file, which I would need for generating a new version. But I also have the problem that I don’t know what has been added or altered since last year. How should I proceed?

Hi there,

I edited the file event_espresso-de_DE.po one year ago and compiled it to event_espresso-de_DE.mo.

Where did you upload your .mo file to?

I now see a new version of event_espresso-de_DE.mo has been installed with the latest update, but it has errors and doesn’t include the changes I made.

Every update to EE will download the latest version of the .MO file from our language repo, however if you’ve created your own and uploaded that to /wp-content/uploads/espresso/languages EE will use that version in place of the default.

I don’t find the current event_espresso-de_DE.po file, which I would need for generating a new version. But I also have the problem that I don’t know what has been added or altered since last year. How should I proceed?

Do you have your original .po file that you made changes to?

Yes, I have the .po I used last year. And yes, my (old) .mo file is in /wp-content/uploads/espresso/languages. But there is a very prominent spelling error in the title “All Venues” in the current version. This text is composed of two elements (“All %s” and “venues”). The first word no longer uses the German translation.

May I ask which locations this string is in?

Maybe add a screenshot – https://eventespresso.com/wiki/troubleshooting-checklist/#screenshots

I just want to confirm I’m looking in the same location you are.

I assume it’s the strings marked in this screenshot, but can’t be sure: https://www.lernen-im-quartier.ch/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/event_espresso-de_DE_copy_po_—_Event_Espresso_4.png

Sorry, I should have been clearer, I mean on the actually site itself, not within the translation files.

Which string on the site itself are you trying to translate?

Here’s a screenshot of the home page, showing the text “ALL KURSORTE” (should be “ALLE KURSORTE”) in the menu bar: https://www.lernen-im-quartier.ch/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Lernen_im_Quartier_–_neu_–_Deutschkurse_für_Erwachsene.png
And here’s the menu setup: https://www.lernen-im-quartier.ch/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Screen-Shot-2018-08-16-at-10.54.18.png

Hmm, strange.

If I download the PO file from our GlotPress project:

https://translate.eventespresso.com/projects/event-espresso-4/de/event-espresso-de_de/

And test that on my test sites, it works as expected.

Can I take a look at your PO file? If so you can send a copy to support[at]eventespresso.com
