Hi,
I need to a setup just as the one they are talking about in this case: https://eventespresso.com/topic/event-with-no-payment-gateway/

But I cannot see the “Enable attendee pre-approval feature” under General settings?
Do I have to look a more specific place?

Thank you!

Hi Mie,

That thread is for Event Espresso 3.

In EE4 you want to edit the event and look for the ‘Default Registration Status’ setting.

Set that to ‘Not Approved’ and run through a registration to test.

Ok, thank you for a quick reply.
Where and how do I change the text that is displayed here then: http://www.ndc16.com/registration-checkout/#checkout

The thing is that I will like to send the “approved” e-mail to the participant, so that it seem that everything is approved, and then add a text that says that we will send an invoice shortly, with the amount.
So is it somehow possible to set the default registration status as “approved” and then just have a short message saying that they will receive an invoice shortly?

Hi Mie,

You can set the registration status to approved via the event options box in the top right area of the event editor.

Note that this may cause some confusion as you’ll have a list of registrants but not easily be able to determine who has actually paid since you are handling payments outside of Event Espresso.

Hi Lorenzo,
But when I do that, this error message pops up when trying to register:

Okay, it looks like there is no payment gateway enabled according to your screenshot. If you have a paid event, then you’ll need at least one payment option even if you will be processing payments elsewhere.

Hi again,
Yes, that is why I refered to this case: https://eventespresso.com/topic/event-with-no-payment-gateway/

I need to show the price, but the clients should not pay up front, we will send them invoice afterwards thorugh another system.
So my question is, if it is possible to show the price and a message saying that they will receive an invoice, without activating a payment method?
Or is it possible to make a custom payment method called invoice? (differente from the invoice option that is already in your system).

Hi,

You’ll need to use a payment method even if it does not process any payments. It won’t work without one because that is essentially letting a registration through with no payment information.

I do have some ideas on handling this:

1) Set the event to zero and then add explanatory information in the event description to clarify that payment is collected at a later time.

1b) Also, create a custom message and enable it for this event and add that information there as well:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-create-a-custom-message-template/

or

2) Repurpose one of the other offsite payment methods like check and then create a custom message and enable it for the event. You’ll be able to clarify the payment process in both areas.
