I’m experiencing a rather strange issue with items in the cart where the event title of an old ticket kind of gets stuck!

Let me explain the scenario.

If i navigate to an event named “Physics A Level” and from that event add a ticket named “AQA Online” to my basket, then go to my basket and remove that ticket, then i navigate to an event named “Maths GCSE” and from that event add a ticket named “Edexcel IGCSE Online” and finally go to my basket…

The Event title is showing as “Physics A Level” and the ticket name is showing as “Edexcel IGCSE Online”. So we have the event name from the ticket i previously removed and the ticket name for the new ticket i just added.

I tried forcing a refresh on the cart page and nothing changes. If i complete the purchase it is indeed the new ticket to the new event that is purchased but we have had users very confused by the fact the old event’s name stays behind.

Hi there,

Can you link me to a couple of events so I can view this, please?

Hi Tony,
Sorry for the slow reply!

I can reproduce this every time by first going to this event:
https://www.pmt.education/courses/bookings/a-level/physics/christmas-online/

Adding a ticket (I chose OCR (A) Online: 22-23rd December) then go to my cart and remove that ticket (i have seen someone else mention this on the forum here actually but, clicking to remove from my cart doesnt update teh visual output on one click, i have to ckick twice but if i click one, i can see the js scrolls the screen a little and if i refresh it has indeed been removed…)

Then go to say, this event:
https://www.pmt.education/courses/bookings/gcse/maths/christmas-online/

And add a ticket (i chose Edexcel Online: 2-3rd January)

Now when i go to my cart i see the Event Name from the event i removed (Physics A Level Christmas Revision Course – Online) but the ticket name for the ticket i just added (Edexcel Online: 2-3rd January)

Which hosting provider are you using?

I’m not able to add an event to the cart, I select the ticket and submit, the modal is shown like this:

https://monosnap.com/file/0NaklC58UKyIupjiniT8NmjTLSdU5m

And if I view the cart or proceed with registration I get nothing in your event queue, which is almost always a caching issue.

Have you excluded EE’s pages from caching at all?

The site is hosted on Digital Ocean.

That is really strange! I don;t experience that issue myself and we get emailed by customers when things don’t quite qork rigth and nobody has got in touch saying they cant add tickets (things are selling etc!)

We dont have any cache plugins running but we do use Cloudflare as a CDN.

No we’ve not done any exclusions (as i said, because we dont actually have a cache plugin running) I checked the Event Espresso > General Settings > Critical Pages and Page Status and SHortcode are all green.

There’s some very weird things going on with the requests on your site.

Now… it’s working, sort of!

Why is CloudFlare preteching all requests? They return 503 errors within EE and I suspect are part of the problem here.

I found a little more about this here:

https://serverfault.com/questions/1165854/503-response-to-prefetch-requests-nginx-php

What happens if you disable CloudFlare?

Hi Tony,

Sorry again for the delay!

I’m not sure. I did make sure the Speed Brain feature was deactivated though as it was previously on.

I’m not able to deactivate cloudflare as it deals with a lot of stuff for us, but i did test this all on a local install with no cache of any kind and it still does exactly the same thing (remove from basket doesnt visually update on first click, removing a ticket and adding a new one still shows the removed ticket’s event name above the new ticket name)

I can install this all in a test environment if you’d like, so it has no cloudflare, no cache of any kind.

Hmm, my apologies.

I’ve managed to reproduce this on another site and have created a ticket for our developers to investigate further.

Hi Tony,
It’s been around a month so i wnated to check in and see if there was any update on this?

Our bookings are getting busier as we get closer to our Christmas courses and we are having some customers reporting they are confused about what they are booking because of this quirk, so it would be great to get it resolved soon.

Hello again,

Can i get an update on this at all please?
It’s quite a frustrating bug and it causes a fair bit of confusion for our users.

I’m not saying every single user comes across this of course but it is enough to be a problem.

Hi there,

My apologies for the delay here.

I’ve just push an update for the Multi Event Registration add-on which should fix this (version 2.0.21.p).

If you don’t see the update available on your site just yet, go to Dashboard -> Event Espresso -> General Settings.

Make no changes and just hit save to force an update check, it should then show in the Plugins menu as a normal update.

Hi Tony,

No problem. Thank you for updating me on this.

So far, so good! It seems ot have done the trick :^)
I did have a slight worry on the first try as it let me empty the cart but the cart remained empty while i tried to add new events, but a swift clear of teh cloudflare cache and, it all seems to be working as intended now.

Thank you very much!

Awesome! Thank you for confirming.

Do you have the option within Cloudflare to exclude specific URI’s?

Hi Tony,

I’ll have to check! I must admit i don’t personally deal with that side of things, i’m more on the actual development side. But it does seem to be ticking along fine now since the update :^)
