Event related shortcodes in Batch message

I have read thru: https://eventespresso.com/topic/added-event-name-and-date-shortcodes-to-batch-email/ and https://eventespresso.com/topic/adding-event-information-to-batch-template-shortcodes-not-available/ and https://eventespresso.com/topic/send-batch-message-adding-new-template/.

The EE4 automated reminder add-on doesn’t work for my purposes.

And this seems a bit nuts to me: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/messages-system-how-to-add-custom-message-shortcodes/

Sending a message to all registrants of an event utilizing shortcodes like Event name, date, venue, etc. was easy with EE3. I understand EE4 is more featured, robust, complete, etc. than EE3. Also understand the EE4 Batch message doesn’t have the context required for Event-related shortcodes.

Any new ideas or suggestions beyond workarounds mentioned above?

Hi Joao,
Appreciate the follow up. I would like to use shortcodes like [EVENT_LIST] and [EVENT_NAME] / [VENUE_TITLE] or [DATETIME_LIST] and [DATE_START], for example. Nevertheless, I understand the EE4 Batch message doesn’t have the context required for Event, Venue, Date, etc. -related shortcodes. I’m just complaining like a baby. Please feel free to ignore and move along. Consider this a feature request, perhaps.

Hi there,

I just wanted to post up as I’ve been here a while now (10+ yrs) and this feature request is one of the few that made me chuckle with your last reply 🙂

To give a quick explanation of this for anyone reading, the batch emails use the ‘contacts’ liked to the registrations passed to it. You can think of that as a list of people passed to the function with no other details so when generating the message EE doesn’t ‘know’ the event those people are attending, just each individual name.

Changing the way the message is generated can be done, for example we could switch it to become a ‘registration’ based message type so that rather than just getting a list of names the function uses the registrations themselves and then pulls the contact from each of those but there are pros and cons to each setup.

Either way I wanted to let you know that your feature request has been noted 🙂
