Event registration email is always going to the admin email address

Apologies if I’m not getting this but I set up the various emails in the settings page with no problem (and the rest of the system with various add-ons). However, the Event Registration Notification email always seems to go to the admin email address although it contains the link to the ticket and invoice. It feels like this is destined for the client but maybe I’m wrong? (incidentally the ticket also contains an avatar image above the QR code that I never set up). I couldn’t find anything conclusive about this email and how to style it etc.

Thanks

Hi Nicholas,

The Event Registration Confirmation email should be sent to the attendee, but a notification message should also be sent to you as well, letting you know someone has registered. One way to get a better understanding of this process is to run a test registration using a secondary email address that you have access to. You will receive the customer’s confirmation emails to that address, and the notification email will go to your admin address.

Does this help?

The admin email form is hard-coded. It does have the ticket and invoice links in it. The ticket template is in espresso-ticketing/templates/index.php. Line 53 has the gravatar shortcode. If you don’t have a gravatar, it will randomly select one of the stock gravatars.

Thanks for the replies. When I register (and I’ve tried this with an alternative email address) I do get an instant email confirmation based on the template in the general settings which is the automated response, details of the event, map etc. But the email entitled “<—–> Event Registration Notification<——->
Registration Summary:” is only ever sent to the admin address and not to the attendee.

Sidney calls this the ‘admin’ email so should this also go to the attendee? It looks as though it should…

OK, someone was just asking the same question and I saw this reply about the templates: “Neither contain the ticket link by default it needs to be added in”

I think this is just a bit confusing because the hard coded admin email looks like it’s the official one that should go to the attendee although of course the styling looks very mechanical.

Hi,

There are 3 emails in total that go out:

Registration confirmation – to the customer
Payment Confirmation – to the customer
Admin email – to the admin.

The admin emails is as you say hardcoded, something we are looking to change in the future, but the two emails that go to the customer are fully editable.

You can add “tags” to the emails to add in things like ticket link etc. A full list is found here https://eventespresso.com/wiki/custom-email-tags/, but there is also a list in the dashboard itself http://d.pr/i/t4at

Ok, thanks that explains it. There’s so much it’s easy for your eyes to glaze over with the obvious!

The plugin does exactly what I want – and the v4 preview I tried with the multi-event cart is a great improvement over manually adding the code to the event.

You’re welcome, and yes we are excited about 4.0 too, we just need to get it out of the door!
