EE 4.4.7 New installation. Site is NOBTA.com – I am setting up registration forms for 6 different competitions. Each competition will have the same offerings. I am confused to what the best way to do this. Here are some details – In a competition I have up words to 35 events that an individual/group can enter. Within any event I need to give an option of 4 different levels to enter. What would be the best way to set this up. What option within EE4 would I use to develop my “35 events”, the ticket, event or category function? And the same question for my different levels needed?

Hi, will you need to collect similar information for each event? If so, you could create a custom questions (new questions) and assign them to a custom question group:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/add-questions-event-espresso-question-groups/

Then this custom question group could be enabled via the event editor (bottom right area) for the primary attendee/registrant and/or additional attendee/registrant.

When a registrant tries to register, they would then need to provide their personal information (name and email) and complete the questions for your custom question group.

There is also a duplicate event button in the event editor. You may find this helpful for quickly creating a set of similar events.

This is working fabulously. Thank you so much.

I neglected to ask in my earlier if I can attach a price to each question? This is a must to be able to charge the participant accordingly.

I see there is a price modifier for questions in Pre-Release, but on my profile page I don’t have access to it. How can I get access to it?

Hi, the price modifier is available from the pre-release channel (https://eventespresso.com/wiki/pre-release-channel-guide/) and is for Event Espresso 3 and is not compatible with Event Espresso 4.

Each ticket/pricing option is counted as an attendee.

Could you tell us more about the pricing options that you need for your project?

Each question could have 16 different multi choice types. Each type needs a price attached to it. In theory a participant can register for 10 different questions and each type would need a price attached. And my next issue is if a participant registers for 4 specific questions can I attach a discount to these questions?

That kind of pricing is not available in Event Espresso 4 as the pricing can’t be adjusted by registration questions. Event Espresso 3 would be a better fit since it has the pricing modifier add-on:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/espresso-price-modifier-add-on/

Each price modifier question adjusts the base price that is set through the event editor.

If I would make each question a ticket would I have the ability to have different types/values as the questions do presently in EE4? If not I have three personal license that I need to change over to EE3, if I can’t make the EE4 work.

Hi, the pricing in Event Espresso 3 has a base price that is entered via the event editor and then the price modifiers increase or decrease the price based on the questions.

Event Espresso has individual pricing options but they cannot be adjusted by registration questions. This is because a ticket is selected and then the registration information is collected afterwards.

Ok, so it sounds like I need to download the EE3. I could not find any help on going from EE4 to EE3. Can you give me a direction to replace EE4 with EE3. I certainly do appreciate all of your help.

Hi,

The ideal way to downgrade is to use a backup made prior to the EE4 installation.

That is not always possible, so you can simply disable EE4, and activate EE3, and then make sure that the core pages and shortcodes are correct for EE3 ( see here https://eventespresso.com/wiki/the-basic-settings/#page ).

Events cannot be reverted from EE4 to EE3 due to their differences (plus we don’t have a retro migration system).

Hi, I do not have a back up. I deactivated EE4. I am logged into the EE website and it would not allow me to download EE3. Will I have to buy another license, since this one is not doing what I need it to do?
Thanks for your help.
