Hello —
I have set a new promotion set to a single event and expect to see the ribbon banner (not seen) or at least a code field entry box in the shopping cart (not happening). So what have I left out? I see no setting to activate a promotion from within an event so I am expecting to automatically appear, which is apparently NOT going to happen. Thanks.

Hi there,
If the promotion has a promotion code, then it will not display in a banner. The Promotion code field entry box is displayed on the page just before they select the method of payment. There’s more information about promotions and how they’re displayed in the documentation:
