I have set up our first event and in the draft version, it looks fine. But now that it is published I am receiving an error and cannot find the event signup page.

I have tried multiple events with the same problem.

You can click to get to the events from the calendar: https://roanokevalleynewcomers.org/upcoming-events/

I have the calendar add-on and the stripe setup.
Critical pages are setup.

Hi there,

Do you have any other plugins that deal with ‘events’?

The ‘ugly’ link for your event ‘works’, here: https://roanokevalleynewcomers.org/?espresso_events=membership-renewal

But the ‘pretty’ version does not:
https://roanokevalleynewcomers.org/events/membership-renewal/

So either, something else is using the ‘events’ slug and WordPress is looking for posts by that plugin rather than EE’s, or your permalinks need to be flushed.

The latter is easily tested, go to Dashboard -> Settings -> Permalinks.

Make no changes and just hit Save to flush permalinks.

Does the ‘pretty’ link work then?

If not go to Dahsboard -> Event Espresso -> Events -> Template (tab at the top of the event list)

Find the Event slug option and set to to something other then ‘events’, for example events-temp is fine for this.

Save and then reflush permalinks (you shouldn’t need to as EE will do it for you, but worth doing just to be sure in this case).

If you used events-temp, now try: https://roanokevalleynewcomers.org/events-temp/membership-renewal/

Does that work?

I saved the permalinks again and that worked.
Thank you, Thank you!

Awesome, so that usually means something forced the permalinks to flush at an unexpected point in the request before EE could add its rewrite rules.

It it continues to happen we may be able to investigate further to see which plugin is calling the flush.

OK, I have disabled any plugins that we will not be using in the future and will monitor this function periodically.
Thank you again for you help.
