Hey All –

Is there a way to control the lineup on the event archive page other than most recently published?

Thanks!

matt

Hi Matt,

Unless something is overriding the query on that page, it should be ordering those by start date. Do the events get ordered by start date if you preview another WordPress theme like the twenty seventeen theme? You can preview another theme by clicking on the Customize link of your WordPress toolbar.

Got it – thx Josh. So we have some events that are happening in Spring but are sending out a newsletter promoting our upcoming summer events. It would be great if we could have the summer events show up first in order on the archive page since a lot of traffic from our newsletter is going to be looking for those specific events to be on top. does that make sense.

Yes it makes sense. You can follow this guide to add support for “Sticky Posts” for Event Espresso events:

http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-add-sticky-posts-in-custom-post-type-archives/

It involves adding a plugin and adding a bit of custom code, but it works.

You can add the code from the above tutorial to a functions plugin or into your WordPress theme’s functions.php file.
