Hi!

Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, but I can’t seem to find a solution to this.

I’m wondering if there’s a way to output a custom formatted list of my events on my site.
I’ve modified my event-list-display.php to work its magic on mydomain.com/event, but let’s say I wanted a simpler list with a different layout on my homepage.

I’ve tried ” echo do_shortcode(‘[EVENT_LIST order_by=date(start_date) limit=12]’);”, which works fine, but pulls the layout from what I’ve specified in event-list-display.php ( which makes sense).

So to clarify:

  1. Is there a way for me to create a new shortcode (and template file) that I can style to my needs?
    or
  2. Can i perform a query/loop on my events directly in my index.php/template files?

Thanks!
Stefan

Hi Stefan,

  1. Yes you can create new shortcodes/templates, preferably using the Custom files add on.
  2. You could hack at the core files, but for future proofing against updates, I would put the code into the custom files add on files. There you can add custom functions, shortcodes and templates.
