Event list shortcode

Hi guys,

I’ve set up on a separate page to show only 8 events at a time –
[EVENT_LIST limit=8]
http://frommycity.com/
This was to show only 8 of the newest Open events. The first event was Closed today, and a new event added. The new event had an earlier date, that appeared, but it reduced the display of the events from 8 to 7, and removed the display of the oldest event.

For the time being, I have had to change the limit number to 9 to fix it.

What shortcode do I need to display the 8 newest live events?

Thanks.

Hi there,

Have you seen the documentation here on Event List shortcodes. There are a few things that factor into the event listings. Are any of them recurring events?

Thanks Jonathan,

No, none of them are or will be recurring events.

Yes, I’ve gone over and over the shortcodes but can’t work out which one, or if any, apply for the situation above?

Thanks.

Hi there,

Was the one event that was removed closed for registration but hadn’t happened yet?

Yes Josh, it appears my client did do exactly that. As they were afraid someone would try to register, even though they could of just changed the registration time.

So, if you close a registration, and the event hasn’t gone past the date? or time? then the event will not appear, but a new event won’t fill in its place at the end of the chronological order?

Basically, if we close an event earlier with the registration time, a new event will move in to replace it?

I’ve changed the limit back to 8 today, and it now works with all 8, and the old event from yesterday does not appear in the active Event Overview screen.

Thanks.

Yeah I think the limit parameter works best when the event start time happens around the same time and as the registration end time.

Thanks Josh,

Just to clarify, if event “1”, finishes at 1pm, event “9”, needs to start registration at 1pm on the same day?

Or, can we just make sure the registration, for event “9”, superceeds, event “1”?

THanks.

Neither. I’ll clarify:

The limit parameter works best when the event start time for an event happens around the same time and as its registration end time.
