My pages that list upcoming classes and events look terrible because the events just run into each other and you can’t tell where one ends and one begins. have a look: http://www.finestcityimprov.com/train/classes-3/
Can’t figure out how to put spaces in between each or a hard return line. Ideally, this list would just show a preview of each (title and short description) but i have no idea how to do that either.

Hi Amy,
There are two main ways to style the events list. The easiest is to use the Themeroller styles (Template Settings page). The default style looks like this http://d.pr/i/xN52 (there are no descriptions, those are test events).
Alternatively you can use CSS to manually change the looks. The CSS can be added to your themes style.css file or to a plugin like My Custom CSS (very good plugin and free).
Short descriptions need to be enabled in the Template Settings options page and then in the event description you can add a More tag ( ) where you want the description to cut off. There is a button in the visual tab that adds a more tag for you http://d.pr/i/qX7Y
