I have VIP and non-VIP events in 2 category. They are listed on 2 different pages and the VIP page is password protected (WP Member plugin). Here’s my earlier post: https://eventespresso.com/topic/2-different-user-levels/ Now my event links aren’t working. So I found this: https://eventespresso.com/topic/event-links-not-working/ So I added a private page with the shortcode [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] and I put that on EE general settings page as a main registration page. Now all the event links point to that page. Non-VIPs shouldn’t see all the events and if I the put the non-VIP events page as a main registration page the event links aren’t working. So what should I do? |

Terve, OK, well first off you cannot put the ESPRESSO_EVENTS shortcode on a password protected or non public page, it will cause all sorts of problems. When separating the event pages (using EVENT_LIST) can you not add a shortcode to that page from the Membership plugin to limit access to the page to only VIP members, rather than password protecting? |

Terve, Thank you for your super quick answer. So now I have ESPRESSO_EVENTS shortcode on a public page and it works as a registration page with address “registration/?ee=1” but without the “?ee=1″it shows all the events. So I don’t get it. How do I hide the VIP events on this page? Sorry if I’m asking stupid questions but I just don’t get it. 🙂 |

Hei no problem, questions are what we do. OK, so the ESPRESSO_EVENTS shortcode is like a master shortcode for the plugin. It needs to exist, and importantly be accessible, but the page it is on does not need to be on your navigation menu. The EVENT_LIST shortcode does a very similar job as the ESPRESSO_EVENTS, but importantly you can manipulate results (by category for example). So what I would do, though I havent tested this, is to have 3 pages: One has the ESPRESSO_EVENTS and is not visible on the navigation menu VIP page has the EVENT_LIST using the category attribute to only show events marked with the VIP category – and is visible on your navigation NON VIP page has the EVENT_LIST using the category attribute to only show events marked with the NOT VIP category – and is visible on your navigation I would then use the membership plugin to limit access to the VIP page to only that logged in member type. The NON VIP page can be limited to just logged in members, so both NON AND VIP’s alike can access it As previously mentioned (i think) in the other post, it does mean that if a user accidentally stumbles across the ESPRESSO_EVENTS page they could theoretically register for the event, so I would use an SEO plugin to mark it as non indexed to try and help hide it. You could also add Membership shortcodes to the individual events to protect against that. I hope that makes a bit more sense, and as said I havent tested any of this out, but thats how I would try to deal with a tiered membership. |
