Dear team,

Within an event I have two event datetimes with the only purpose to distinguish between the maximum available amount of tickets per datetime. I now see that the calendar then shows both event date times, which I don’t get, because they both refer to the same event with the same ticket selector.
Is it possible to make the calendar only show the event instead of its assigned datetimes, or to hide one datetime based on e.g. its name?

Best,
Luc

Hi there,

We had a similar request from another user and added a filter to the Calendar that allowed for this:

https://eventespresso.com/topic/show-event-title-once-on-calendar-no-datetimes-required/#post-176372

It forces the calendar to only display a single datetime for event when there are multiple datetimes on the same day.

You can add that code to a Custom Functions Plugin on your site, however not it also uses a function that requires PHP 5.5 to be running on your server.

Dear Tony,

Thank you! This works like a charm.
Additionally, is there a way to prevent the datetime’s title to be included in the agenda? When I use your trick, only one datetime is displayed, but it includes the event’s name as well as the datetime’s name. So I would like only the event’s name to be shown in the calendar.

For that you can just remove the datetime name as its not a required field.

Dear Tony,

Yes-no. Then I’ll end up with two date times on the ticket selector page, without a heading, which – since both datetimes have slightly different start and end times, is confusing. I’m really looking for a hack to get the datetime name from the calendar, since it should display an event instead of a datime.

You could remove the datetime output from the single event page and include the details within the description.

We don’t have any filters available that will allow you to remove the datetime name from the title in the Calendar if it is set within the event. So to remove the datetime name you would need to modify the files within the plugin which is not something we provide support for.

since it should display an event instead of a datime.

The calendar is designed to work across multiple different event set-ups, it should not simply display the Event and ignore datetimes.

I can add a feature request to the Calendar plugin that will allow the datetime name to be removed from the title, however that will take time to discuss, test and release.

Dear Tony,

I understand where it’s coming from.
Could you point me to the EE php file where this is managed? I’ll see whether I could make a quick workaround for this.

Take a look within \ee4-calendar\EE_Datetime_In_Calendar.class.php

I mentioned this above but its worth repeating, modifying the core plugin files will prevent us from providing support for that modified version.

Dear Tony,

Since using the short code which only displays one event per date (or one date time) I’m facing an issue where randomly the first event in a month is not shown, but “+ View more” is shown instead of the ‘button’ with the event’s title. One or more reloads makes it load normal. It’s always the first event in a month with this issue.
