On the calendar view, all events display with some text at the top that describes another active event. The text is in a bar that seems linked to some calendar feature including the iCal feature. This is new, have not seen this before. It’s not a course category or tag and I can’t find where to remove it. Some background, we recently had our developer install several plugins including “The Events Calendar” (Not Events Calendar Addon). The actual “Events Calendar Add-On” is not installed. Where is the setting for this. I could share a screenshot if there was an option for that.

Can you send us a link to see the page live?

Or how to share screenshots: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/troubleshooting-checklist/#screenshots

Garth,
Thank you for looking at this for me. The live site is academy-trained.com. Go to the Calendar tab. Here is a link to a screenshot. The first event is a Butte College event. The other two are not.

Are you referring to the text “Butte College Arborist Training”? https://www.screencast.com/t/tP4mWhcRc

That looks like the name/label of the datetime for that event. If you started the subsequent events by duplicating the original event, then you’ve likely got a datetime named the same for all those events.

Thanks Garth. I believe you are partially correct. The correct part is that the admin probably did duplicate from a previous event and that the datetime from the previous event is being displayed. The incorrect part is that the datetime name in the settings for this event has been changed but the name/label being displayed does not reflect the change. Some wire has been crossed somewhere. Not sure if this is a cache issue or if the admin should re-create the event from scratch. Will probably just re-create the event from scratch. Thank you.

Can you provide a screenshot of the datetime label in the admin?

Hi there,

The link you are referring to is the DateTime list, it loops over all of the datetimes linked to an event and outputs the Datetime Name and Date for that event.

For that to display the same information for each event, something very weird is going on with the loop.

Within your theme are you loading up a custom template for the EE event archives?

Tony, That’s a good question. I don’t know the answer to it. I know there was some custom work done because draft events were visible in the calendar despite not being published. We also had some custom work done so we could have ticketless events. The ticketless events was created to allow for posting of events like the Butte College training that our instructors teach but that we don’t sell tickets for. However, after that work was done, it was working fine. I found some screenshots from our developer from back in January and that “date time list” you mentioned with the calendar icons was not even on there. Now, every event I create, whether I duplicate it or start from scratch, has that info in the calendar.

So you just don’t want to display those dates at all?

You can hide them with some CSS:

.archive-date-times {
    display: none;
}

Add that to Appearance -> Customize -> Additional CSS.

I suspect the developer has created a custom template for the archive and now the loop for that function is only being passed a single posts ID.

If you want to troubleshoot that further I can give you more details but you will likely need the code fixing if that’s the case, which is not something we provide under normal support.

Tony,
Thank you for your help with this. We’ll have our developer look into it. It’s helpful to know that the issue likely lies with their code rather than some bug within Event Espresso. Thank you for that.

You’re most welcome.

If they have any questions just let me know, I’ll do my best to answer.
