Why is when I put the shortcode on my events page it is not showing the Event Grid View:

https://www.napoleonciviccenter.org/events/

however, when I put it on another page it works?
https://www.napoleonciviccenter.org/test-3/

Help! Why is this doing this? Is there a way to change my default event page?

Thank you in advance!

Hi there,

Why is when I put the shortcode on my events page it is not showing the Event Grid View:

That’s happening because the /events/ output, is not a page, its an archive.

You may have a page called ‘events’ with the slug set to ‘events’ but that’s not what is used to output the details on:

https://www.napoleonciviccenter.org/events/

The archive output is overriding the page so it doesn’t matter what you have on the events page.

It is possible to change the output of the /events/ archive but to do so you will need to create your own custom archive template for your theme using PHP.

Another option is to change the EE ‘events’ slug to something different, then use your events page to output the details on /events/, it means that the current output on /events/ would change to whatever you set the slug to but leaves the events page to output its details.

Would that work?
