Hello,

I am using Event Espresso Version 3.1.21.P and I am experiencing an issue with my invoice (I cannot add more fields such as the company name, addresse,…).

After creating a post here to try and solve the invoice issue, I was told the reason is most likely due to the old version of event espresso.

I would like to upgrade but I know we had tried to do it in the past but we had to go back to this version because something went wrong.

Do you have advice on a specific way I should upgrade it? (I had a look at the how to upgrade page, it seems like I’ll have to upgrade to the last version of event espresso 3 and then upgrade to 4? Is upgrading to 4 really necessary?)

Thank you,
Marielle

Hi Marielle,

Upgrading to EE4 would definitely make it easier to edit the invoice but it’s not necessary if you’re comfortable with how to edit the invoice template in Event Espresso 3.

In any case, what I actually mentioned in the other topic was the problem with running Version 3.1.21.P is it doesn’t have any of the security fixes that have been released since 2012, and it’s not compatible with the current version of WordPress either.

The something that went wrong when you tried an update to a newer version of Event Espresso 3 was probably caused by having out of date template files (from a previous version) in the /wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates/ directory. If you have modified templates in there, they need to be updated to the new template files included with the current version of the plugin. If you haven’t made any modifications to the templates, these can be removed. If you are not sure if there were modifications made to these files, back these up or rename that folder just in case.

Hello Josh,

Thank you! I’ll push for the upgrade and back up the template files as I think they were modified. I will see if we can also upgrade to EE4. If so, I need to upgrade first to the last version of EE3, and then move to EE4, is that right? Or can I do it just in one step?
Thanks again for your support!
Marielle

You’ll definitely need to first update to the last version of EE3 first, and that’s explained in this guide:
