Hi.
We are working in a multi site environment.
There we have event espresso installed.
I wanted to update through network -> plugins but there is a message I can’t quite figure out: There is an automatic update for Event Espresso available but your Site License Key has not been set. Please go to the Event Espresso General Settings page to set your Site License Key for this addon.
Even though we are talking about a multi site, there is only one domain activated by license key.
Anyway, I can’t quite figure out the next step and how to install the update.
Do I have to remove the old version first in order to be able to install the update?

Hello Bjørn,

WE are having these issues currently as we have/are making changes to the licence system. I have reset your licence key. Please go to Event Espresso > General Settings. Remove the licence key, save, reenter the licence key and save.

That should resolve the issue, but please advise if the automatic updates does not work still.

Thanks.

Hi Dean.
I did the steps you described but there is no change.
The message I get after clicking update plugin: An error occurred while updating Event Espresso: Update package not available..

Ok thanks, I will need to refer this onto a developer to look into.

Currently multisite is the one instance where the automatic updater is not currently configured to work correctly. In theory it should work, at least on the primary domain, if the license key is properly configured for that domain, but the fact that updates need to happen from the network admin panel throws a wrench into the system. We’re working on making the entire system multisite capable but for now (and until officially stated otherwise), the automatic updates don’t work & you just need to download the plugin from your account page and update manually.

  • This reply was modified 12 years ago by Chris Reynolds. Reason: after testing updated to officially state that automatic updates don't work in ms

I am having the same issue. I keep getting messages to update and input my API key. When I click on the general settings link in the plugin bar inside the network admin I am taken to:

http://gnflea.com/wp-admin/network/admin.php?page=event_espresso&license_key=true#license_key

Which says “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.”

Thanks.

Justin

@Dennis

See my comment above. The automatic upgrade does not work with WordPress multisite.

How about the license key? How do I activate it for support?

The license key is only necessary for automatic updates. Your access to the forums, your user account and information on your profile is what is used by support staff to determine your level of support.
