Event Espresso says Carts Abandoned

3 people registered, but the Event Espresso says their carts were abandoned and payment in pending. PayPal shows the payment being made so it seems the IPN did not make it to the site.

Is there any way to check why this is happening?

Hi there,

You can get the transaction ID from the Event Espresso > Transactions page, then go to Event Espresso > Payment Methods > Logs and check the log entries for that transaction.

One thing to note, the newer PayPal Express gateway does not use IPNs, and for that reason is more reliable than the older PayPal Standard gateway. If you’re still using the PayPal Standard gateway you can switch to use the PayPal Express gateway by following this guide:

I’ve removed the logs you posted here. Please don’t post logs directly into the forums. If you think it’s helpful to send that information you can email it to the support email address.

In any case, the logs show that you’re using the deprecated PayPal Standard payment gateway. Please use the PayPal Express gateway instead. You can use the same PayPal account you use now, and you can follow this guide to get set up:
